For those of you who have been absolutely clamoring to see former WWE star CM Punk compete in the Octagon again, then there might be some good news for you.
When asked by someone on Twitter, “When are we gonna see you cry again in the Octagon?” the 39-year-old responded by saying he’s fighting on June 9th, which would be UFC 225 in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois.
Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, lost his MMA debut back at UFC 203, as Mickey Gall tapped him out in just over two minutes. Dana White recently said that CM Punk would get another shot at his first MMA win, but he didn’t let on who the opponent would be.
One name that has floated around as a potential opponent is Mike Jackson, who fought and was choked out by Gall just months before Gall took on Punk. A report surfaced last month that Punk vs. Jackson was being discussed, but White said there was no deal in place whatsoever.
UFC 225 doesn’t have a main event, although a middleweight title fight between Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero is reportedly in the works to headline this show, which takes place at the United Center.
