Manchester United youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah has trained with his new Crystal Palace teammates after agreeing to a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old is highly-rated at Old Trafford but managed only 11 appearances last season under Jose Mourinho and United believe a temporary switch to Selhurst Park will aid his development.

The versatile Dutch youngster, who can play right-back, centre-back and in midfield, joined United's academy from Ajax in 2014 and signed a new contract last October to keep him at the club until 2020.

On Monday, Mourinho confirmed Fosu-Mensah had not travelled with the United first-team squad to Skopje for the Super Cup as he was in talks to leave on loan.

Crystal Palace manager Frank De Boer admitted that a move was likely on Tuesday, telling reporters: "There is truth in the reports, yes. We think he will train with us tomorrow. It’s a season-long loan."

And now his deal looks set to be announced imminently after a picture emerged of the player in Crystal Palace training on Wednesday.

Amsterdam-born Fosu-Mensah was given his debut in February 2016 by Louis van Gaal and has been a regular in Mourinho's travelling squads over the last year.

But he has found senior minutes limited and is the second United youngster to depart on loan this week after Cameron Borthwick-Jackson joined Championship club Leeds.
