LCD Soundsystem Push Back On Reissues: “Just Buy From DFA”

LCD Soundsystem Push Back On Reissues: “Just Buy From DFA”

Earlier today, it was announced that several of LCD Soundsystem’s albums would be reissued on vinyl by Rhino, with the first of them coming out on June 23. Now, the band have issued a statement via their publicist, saying that they “certainly aren’t announcing shit” and that they had no idea that the reissues series was even happening. “Just buy the records from DFA, like you have been able to for years,” the statement concludes. The press release notes that the Rhino announcement described the band as “‘one of the freshest sounds on the London underground scene in the early 2000s,’ so that shows how seriously anyone should take it.” Pitchfork has reached out to reps for Rhino for comment.

While the band might not be “announcing shit,” they did reveal today that they will return to Brooklyn Steel beginning June 16 for an encore residency. James Murphy and company have reportedly finished their new album, which will feature new songs “Call the Police” and “American Dream.”

LCD Soundsystem will headline this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival in July with A Tribe Called Quest and Solange. Get tickets here.
